If you know any merchants local to you, you might ask if they (or merchants they know) need help. Networking. Beautiful thing.

There is, IIRC, a "SCA Maids and Valets" list. Not sure if its tribes or yahoogroups. The idea is to connect folks with those looking to hire - ie, you might prefer kid-sitting during the day so Mommy & Daddy can fight/fence/attend classes, and you can party in the evenings. Or vice-versa. Try a google search for that phrase.

Asking here might also get you some very specific leads.

I am running a camp in N17 and need helpers. I have tried to join the SCA Maids and Valet list and will probably post there, assuming that someday they let me in. But it never hurts to advertise in multiple places.

I need help in camp set up and tear down and a daily (hour/hour and a half) during war week for ice/trash runs. I am willing to hire different folks for different jobs or one person for all of it. Pay is negotiable - by the hour, or help with transportation/entry fee/camp fee/ camp meal plan or any combination that works for both the helper and the camp. For camp set up, I need some one tall and strong - not saying it has to be a man but putting up tents takes a certain amount of physical strength. Some knowledge of plumbing would be a help with setting up camp water system as I am clueless on that score. Camp set up would start with land grab afternoon and go on for several days, but some of it can be leisurely. Camp tear down will start Friday morning of war week and continue until mid afternoon on Saturday of the closing weekend. I would like references - household, folks you have worked for before, etc. especially for Camp set up.
